Last Wednesday night the REC senior debating team headed to Immanuel College to take on Nazareth Catholic College in their final debate for the year. It was a short preparation debate, meaning they received the topic 90 minutes before the actual debate and then had to research it and prepare their speeches. The topic was 鈥淯niversity degrees are overrated,鈥� and we were arguing for the negative.
Their preparation was solid, and they spoke and represented our College beautifully, coming away with the win. Andre, Sophie and Ameeran spoke, and Zoe was the timekeeper. We now wait until after the final round of debates this Wednesday to see if we made the finals.
Currently we are 2nd on the ladder out of 29 schools and we are so proud.
